2027 Summit strands
Every session aligns with one strand.
These strands reflect the issues and opportunities most central to the lives and leadership of Black male educators today. See the full mission, strands and goals.
Strand 1
AI, Technology & Instruction
How are Black male educators leading, adapting, and innovating in the classroom and in the age of artificial intelligence? Sessions in this strand should address high quality instructional practice and how technology is reshaping teaching, learning, and leadership, and how Black male educators can lead that transformation rather than be displaced by it. Topics may include culturally responsive pedagogy, rigorous and engaging instructional strategies, AI-powered instructional tools, digital literacy, the ethics of technology in education, or innovative classroom and school-level applications.
Strand 2
Civic Education
How are Black male educators deepening their own civic knowledge and preparing the next generation for informed participation in democracy? This strand moves beyond civic engagement to civic education: equipping educators with the content knowledge, historical grounding, and pedagogical tools to teach civics with clarity and conviction. Topics may include policy literacy, the role of Black men in shaping education policy, teaching government and democracy in K–12 settings, or building civic identity among students.
Strand 3
Health & Wellness
How are Black male educators sustaining themselves, physically, mentally, and financially, while sustaining the communities they serve? Sessions in this strand should address the full spectrum of wellbeing: chronic illness prevention, mental health, economic mobility, financial literacy, work-life balance, and the unique health challenges facing Black men in education. This strand is about the whole man, not just the professional.
